This full-time contract opportunity places you within the Pupil Appraisal Department, traveling between 2-3 campuses in the greater New Orleans area. Unlike traditional school social work, this position focuses on the critical process of evaluating students for Special Education services. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including school psychologists and educational diagnosticians, leveraging your expertise to guide important decisions regarding student support.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Active Louisiana DOE Certificate and Professional Social Work License required
• Prior school-based or pupil appraisal experience preferred
• Strong skills in conducting educational and behavioral assessments, evaluations, and re-evaluations
• Familiarity with Special Education eligibility criteria and intervention monitoring
• Ability to work efficiently across multiple school sites as an itinerant professional
• Completion of fingerprinting, background check, and drug screening per district standards

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to determine student eligibility for Special Education services
• Lead and coordinate initial and ongoing evaluations and re-evaluations
• Participate in Academic Behavior Intervention Team (ABIT) and School Building Level Committee (SBLC) meetings
• Monitor interventions and coordinate further testing as needed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive student support
• Maintain thorough documentation in line with district and state regulations
