Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in the New Orleans area as a School Social Worker for the Pupil Appraisal Department. This dynamic, full-time position (35 hours/week, Monday to Friday) offers an itinerant role, traveling between 2-3 campuses as needed throughout the academic year, with a start date as soon as possible continuing through May 27, 2027.

As a key team member, you won’t just provide traditional social work services—instead, you’ll participate in comprehensive pupil appraisal. This will include conducting student evaluations and re-evaluations, supporting the identification of eligibility for Special Education services, contributing to and attending SBLC/ABIT meetings, and collaborating with School Psychologists and Educational Diagnosticians to coordinate interventions and assessments. Your work will directly shape educational plans that impact students’ futures.

Qualifications:

• Active Louisiana Department of Education certification and professional license required.
• Experience in pupil appraisal, school-based evaluations, or Special Education preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Must pass rigorous background checks, fingerprinting, and drug screening.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Adaptability to work across multiple school sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete comprehensive evaluations and re-evaluations of students.
• Participate in the Academic Behavior Intervention Team process and intervention monitoring.
• Coordinate and document assessment results with fellow professionals.
• Facilitate and attend eligibility and intervention meetings.
• Track and support eligible students’ progress in collaboration with educators and families.
