Hours & Guarantee: 8 Hours/Day | 40 Hours/Week Guaranteed | Shift: 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM (Afternoons)

Weekend & Call Requirements: No w.eekends required | No on-call coverage.

Position Overview & Clinical Scope:

A regional medical facility in the Alpena, MI area is seeking a Temporary Phlebotomist for afternoon shift coverage. The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting high-quality diagnostic blood specimens while maintaining patient comfort, safety, and proper laboratory specimen handling protocols.

Essential Duties & Operational Allocation:

• Venipuncture & Blood Collection (20%): Perform skillful blood draws with minimal patient discomfort, demonstrating high accuracy in vein access.
• Patient Identification & Accessioning (15%): Ensure accurate patient identification and specimen labeling in accordance with clinical policies; register and accession specimens using the laboratory computer system.
• Specimen Handling & Technical Knowledge (15%): Maintain thorough knowledge of specialized needles, anticoagulants, specimen handling, and test preparation requirements.
• Telephone & Administrative Support (15%): Answer laboratory phone inquiries professionally and direct calls to appropriate clinical staff.
• Customer Service & Patient Greeting (10%): Greet patients, visitors, and facility staff in a professional and cheerful manner.
• Inventory & Processing Support (10%): Assist with restocking laboratory supplies and putting away inventory (5%), as well as basic specimen processing tasks (5%).
• Miscellaneous Duties (15%): Perform other related clinical and administrative tasks as assigned.

Candidate Submission & Qualification Requirements:

Experience & Certifications:

• Phlebotomy Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of current, active phlebotomy experience [REQUIRED].
• Certification: Active Phlebotomy Certification [REQUIRED].
• Patient Demographics: Proven competency working across all age groups: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations [REQUIRED].
• State Compliance: Michigan LTC Fingerprinting required during the compliance/onboarding phase.
