Patient Services Associate

Patient Services Associate Join Michigan Medicine as a Patient Services Associate. You will check in patients, schedule appointments, verify information, process charges, and support clinical staff. Base Pay Range $43,056.00/yr – $62,462.00/yr Responsibilities Accurately schedule patient appointments using Cadence and manage pre‑arrival functions to ensure clinic visits are prepared. Serve as a resource for physicians, staff, and patients for insurance authorizations and managed‑care issues. Assist patients with payment questions, collect copays and past‑due balances at check‑out. Reconcile clinic cash collections and credit card transactions daily following clinic standards. Ensure completeness of visit information, including diagnosis and procedure codes for billing. Support nursing and medical assistant staff to create efficient patient flow. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Experience in a large, complex health‑care setting preferred. Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems preferred. 2–3 years of experience. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and team‑work skills. Desired Qualifications Knowledge of University policies and procedures. Experience with UMHS EMR and related software. Strong written and verbal communication. Active listening and information‑technology proficiency. Physical Requirements Sitting, standing, walking, lifting less than 51 lbs.
