Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a fast-paced Medical ICU offering 7P-7A shifts and requiring critical care and ventilator management experience.

Job Details

• Medical ICU (MICU) unit within a Level II Trauma Center hospital,
• 26-bed unit with 2:1 patient ratios,
• Total patient care provided by RNs, supported by a unit secretary/COVID runner,
• Uses ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, balloon pumps, ventriculostomy drains, and glucometers,
• PPE including masks, face shields, goggles, and PAPRs used for COVID-19 patients,
• Documentation via Meditech using EBCD (Evidence Based Clinical Documentation),
• 12-hour night shifts from 7P-7A, every other weekend required,
• Floating to other Medical-Surgical units required, with priority given to ICU float assignments,
• Care for ICU COVID-19 patients as part of unit responsibilities,
• Utilizes iMobile phone technology for hospital communication,

Job Requirements

• Active LA or Compact RN license required,
• BLS and ACLS certification required,
• TNCC certification a plus,
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience required,
• Strong knowledge of ventilator management and critical care drips,
• Proficient assessment skills across cardiac, neuro, and respiratory systems,
• Experience with donning and doffing PPE,
• Willingness to care for COVID-19 patients,
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility,

• Perform intubations, cardioversions, ventriculostomy drain placement and management, IABP management, CRRT, and patient proning,
• Follow hourly rounding, bedside hand-off reporting, and use of 'My Care Board' during hand-off,
• Use AIDET communication approach to support compassionate, connected patient care,
• Facility is Pathways to Excellence certified and working toward Magnet status,
• Facility is a Certified Stroke Center and Certified Chest Pain Center,
• Unit has received HCA Unit of Distinction awards and ranked #2 ICU in HCA in 2019,
• Highly tenured and nationally certified nursing staff, including managers,
• Self-scheduling available within certain guidelines,
• Dress code includes ceil blue scrubs, with optional white or ceil blue scrub jacket,
• Green surgery scrubs provided when working with COVID-19 patients,
• No local candidates accepted due to 50-mile radius requirement,
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
