VPC is proud to be recognized for the third year in a row by Crain's Chicago Business as one of the best places to work in Chicago (2023, 2024 & 2025).We seek to add a motivated and engaged individual to join our private credit investing team as an Associate in order to support the evaluation of new investment opportunities as well as the ongoing management of existing portfolio investments.You will:Research various industries and market segments to help develop and refine actionable investment ideas and thesesPerform quantitative and qualitative analyses used to support the underwriting of potential investment ideas and thesesSupport senior associates in processing new investment opportunities, ranging from market assessments, competitive positioning, and financial analysisBuild robust, flexible financial models to support deal underwriting and deal structuring efforts, as directed by deal team leadsFacilitate diligence efforts on pursued deals, including business diligence, risk underwriting, and managing external advisorsPerform ad-hoc analysis to support transaction negotiationsPrepare internal memoranda and other materials used to support investment recommendations and to communicate with internal constituentsMonitor and support existing portfolio companies, including identifying acquisition targets, identifying new product/market opportunities, assisting with financial planning and attending board meetingsFacilitate ongoing interactions with management teams, attorneys, accountants, consultants, investment and commercial bankers, financing parties, and other service providersCarry out other duties as assignedWhat to expect when you join our firm:Hybrid working schedule with in-office days Monday - ThursdayA collaborative office environment, quarterly team events, assortment of complimentary snacks and beverages with lunch provided during onsite daysGenerous Holiday policiesHealth and well-being benefitsMust have skills:At least two years of experience at an investment bank (asset-backed credit experience is preferred but experience with restructuring, leveraged finance, or debt capital markets is also valued) or principal-oriented investment fund (private credit, mezzanine debt or private equity)Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline is requiredFluency with principles of finance, accounting, credit analysis and valuationAdvanced financial modelling skills and the ability to analyze financial statements while working in a transaction-oriented environmentSelf-motivated and capable of multi-tasking in a high-pressure environmentPositive, professional demeanor, outgoing personality, and a high level of initiativeAdvanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)Collaboration skills - Works effectively in a fast-paced, hard-working, and high-driven team-oriented environmentExcellent verbal, written, and presentation skillsFit with a highly analytical and entrepreneurial firm cultureResults-oriented, driven to achieve, hands-on, roll up the sleeves, and a strong work ethicUncompromising personal integrity and a high level of personal respect for all individualsA team player with the ability to work with and through others to respond to sensitive issues and deal with problem situations effectively.Investment areas:Has responsibility for supporting the private credit investing team with in depth company research as well as on-going oversight of portfolio company investments.Supervisory responsibilities:NoPotential for growth:MentoringProfessional development programsRegular trainingYou will be expected to understand the regulatory obligations of the firm, and abide by the regulated entity requirements and VPC policies applicable for your role.
