Ordinance Officer - Part-time

Job Overview Interested in making a difference in a community? The City of Garden City is looking for three part‑time positions (16‑20 hours per week) in our Code Enforcement Department. The department works closely with the Police Department, Building Department, and 21st District Court to enforce the Codes and Ordinances of the City of Garden City. Employees will typically work a day shift; hours may include some nights and weekends. This is a flexible, rewarding opportunity for college students or anyone exploring a career in municipal government/law enforcement or looking to make an impact. Minimum Qualifications & Requirements High School diploma or equivalent Completion of college‑level coursework in law enforcement, building inspection or a related field is highly desirable Experience in enforcing zoning laws and building codes with a public agency is highly desirable Job Duties Patrol assigned areas of the City to identify code violations Respond to complaints reported to the City Communicate with residents and business owners regarding violations, remedies, and time frames Write tickets for violations Maintain detailed documentation Pay attention to detail Update database with the most current information Communicate the most recent developments to other employees/departments as needed Appear in Court and testify when necessary #J-18808-Ljbffr City of Santa Fe Springs
