School Based RHY Coordinator

Catholic Charities of Herkimer County is looking for a compassionate, energetic, and community-minded individual to join our team as a School Based RHY (Runaway and Homeless Youth) Coordinator.

What You'll Do

As a School Based RHY Coordinator, you’ll be an advocate, mentor, educator, and positive presence for youth in our community.

Build Connections in Local Schools

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with local schools, school personnel, and youth-serving professionals.
• Conduct outreach, presentations, and engagement activities to increase awareness of RHY services.
• Connect youth with appropriate support, resources, and community services.

Help Youth Build Life Skills

• Develop and facilitate life-skills lessons and educational activities using approved RHY curricula and program resources.
• Lead engaging “Adulting” classes that prepare youth for independent living.
• Help youth develop practical skills related to budgeting, employment, education, communication, decision-making, daily responsibilities, and accessing community resources.

Empower Youth Leadership

• Work directly with youth leaders to plan and implement the annual Herkimer County Youth Summit.
• Collaborate with school Youth Summit advisors and student planning groups.
• Encourage youth leadership, participation, creativity, and decision-making.
• Assist with workshops, activities, and other Summit events.

Create a Safe & Welcoming Space

• Provide supervision and positive engagement at the RHY drop-in center.
• Help create an environment where youth feel safe, respected, supported, and heard.
• Participate in recreational, educational, creative, and skill-building activities.

Compensation

$18.00–$20.00 per hour

Schedule

• Monday–Wednesday & Friday: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
• Thursday: 12:30 PM–6:30 PM
• Occasional evenings and weekends: As needed/subject to call

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Associate Degree in Human Services or a related field
• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, schools, and community partners
• A genuine desire to support and empower young people
