Learn more about American University Department: Kogod Development Time Type: Full time Job Type: Regular FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Work Modality: Hybrid 01 (On Campus 3-4 Days/Week) Union: Excluded Job Description: Summary: The Development Coordinator for the Kogod School of Business (KSB) is responsible for coordinating and executing activities, which support KSB fundraising initiatives. Under the direction of KSB’s Assistant Dean of Advancement, the Development Coordinator provides administrative support to the KSB Development team, serves as a liaison to the KSB Dean’s Office and other KSB teams as needed, and ensures the regular solicitation, stewardship, and engagement of KSB constituents by coordinating with relevant teams within AU’s Office of Advancement . Additionally, the Development Coordinator is responsible for managing the logistics of and briefings for KSB Development-focused events and activities. Essential Functions: 1.) Solicitation and Stewardship Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Advancement, serve as liaison with the Annual Fund, Stewardship, and Donor Relations to coordinate targeted solicitations for annual gifts, follow up on solicitations, maintain active stewardship of current donors, and support the Kogod Development Team in managing prospect portfolios to the point of gift solicitation. Generate gift acknowledgement letters, provide notification of new gifts to appropriate offices and department heads, and monthly gift reports to select departments. Track usage of donor scholarships and develop student profiles and thank you notes for donor stewardship. Assist with creation of lists for development events. Lead efforts to grow corporate and foundation prospect list for the school. 2.) Kogod Team Strategy and Process Development Working with the Assistant Dean of Advancement to develop, execute, and maintain strategies related to components of the Kogod development operation, including, but not limited to parent and family philanthropy, corporate and foundation philanthropy, and annual giving. Oversee the development and maintenance of team processes and systems to ensure ongoing organization and team activity continuity. Identify opportunities to improve team efficiency and constituent engagement through the use of technology, data management best practices, and emerging AI-enabled tools and systems. 3.) Administrative Support Provide administrative support to the Dean, Assistant Dean of Advancement, and the Director of Development, including preparation of briefings in advance of donor meetings and development events, research on high level donors and prospects, and entry and management of prospect engagement into central CRM. Manage organization of relevant shared team documents. 4.) Kogod Advisory Council (KAC) Support Provide support for the Kogod Advisory Council, the school’s preeminent engagement body. Coordinate meeting logistics, prepare necessary materials, maintain minutes for the four annual meetings, assist with ongoing communications plan for advisory council members, manage upkeep of information on the KAC webpage. 5.) Other Duties Other duties as needed or assigned by the Kogod Development Team. Competencies: Prioritizing and Organizing. Serving Customers. Supporting Coworkers. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full-time. 35 hours per week. Periodic night and weekend work required. Salary Range: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2 - 4 years of relevant experience. Preferred Education and Experience: Volunteer management, marketing, and major gift solicitation experience. Two or more years of successful experience in a higher education setting. Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Ability to analyze and articulate reasons for giving. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
