Rooted in the USMC values of honor, courage, and commitment, Terrestris seeks to deliver extraordinary value to the American people by helping the Government become more efficient and effective.Vehicle Mechanic ResponsibilitiesThe Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a diverse fleet of assets, including light- and heavy-duty vehicles, including gasoline and diesel engines, buses, 4x4 trucks and SUV's, fuel box trucks, vans, and forklifts. This role is critical to maintaining operational readiness by ensuring all vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and compliant with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical experience across diesel and gasoline engines, as well as refrigeration and material handling equipment.Daily Tasks for a Vehicle MechanicYou will:Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on light- and heavy-duty vehicles (gasoline and diesel engines)Maintain and repair buses, vans, and commercial fleet vehiclesInspect, diagnose, and service fleet vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.Conduct maintenance and repairs on forklifts and material handling equipment (diesel-powered)Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic system issues using diagnostic toolsPerform brake, suspension, transmission, and engine repairsConduct DOT inspections and ensure all fleet assets meet federal, state, and local compliance requirementsRespond to emergency breakdowns and perform field repairs as neededMaintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and parts inventoryCoordinate with fleet management to schedule preventive maintenance and minimize downtimeAdhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including hazardous material handling (fuel systems)Clean and prepare vehicle for use by customersSupport mobile or deployed operations as requiredQualifications for a Vehicle MechanicYou might be the professional we're looking for if you have:High school diploma or equivalent (Technical or Trade School preferred)3+ years of experience as a fleet, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanicExperience working on a mixed fleet (light/heavy vehicles, buses, forklifts, or similar)Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, electrical systems, and hydraulicsAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagramsProficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipmentValid driver's license (CDL preferred or ability to obtain)Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in indoor/outdoor environmentsWe will be extra impressed if you have:ASE Certifications (e.g., T-Series, Medium/Heavy Truck, or Equipment certifications)Forklift maintenance certification or OEM trainingExperience supporting government contracts or regulated fleet operationsFamiliarity with fleet maintenance management systemsWork EnvironmentMay require travel to support off-site or deployed fleet operationsOn-call or after-hours support may be required based on mission needsBenefits Offered by TerrestrisWe offer outstanding benefits, including health, financial, and retirement benefits, as well as paid leave, professional development, tuition assistance, and work-life programs.
