Role Overview

As a Genetic Counseling Assistant, you will support the genetic counseling program by coordinating patient care workflows, managing documentation, and facilitating communication between patients, providers, and external partners.

Key responsibilities include:

Scheduling and confirming patient appointments and managing referrals
Obtaining medical records and required documentation
Assisting patients with follow-up and general inquiries
Entering and maintaining patient data in tracking systems and databases
Uploading and managing documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
Maintaining and monitoring departmental trackers and databases
Coordinating communication between genetic counselors, clinicians, and patients
Liaising with commercial laboratories regarding specimen issues, records, and follow-up needs
Supporting overall clinic workflow and patient experience

Qualifications

Education

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Preferred: Bachelor's degree (Science preferred)

Experience

Required: One (1) year of related experience (in lieu of Bachelor's degree)

Preferred: One (1) year of healthcare or medical-related experience

Additional Requirement: Understanding of medical terminology
