Position Summary
Sunflower Family Medicine is seeking an experienced, fully bilingual Medical Assistant to join our team in a part-time, in-office position. This is not a traditional Medical Assistant role. The primary responsibility of this position is to contact patients by phone to review and communicate laboratory and diagnostic results based on provider instructions and established office protocols. The ideal candidate must be comfortable speaking with patients throughout the day, explaining results clearly and professionally, accurately documenting conversations, and recognizing when questions or concerns need to be escalated to a provider.

Primary Responsibilities

• Call patients to communicate laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic results.
• Review provider notes and instructions before contacting patients.
• Clearly explain results and provider recommendations in either English or Spanish.
• Document all patient communications accurately in the patient's medical record/EHR.
• Answer basic patient questions within the scope of the information provided by the medical provider.
• Escalate clinical questions, abnormal findings, or patient concerns to the appropriate provider when necessary.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements at all times.
• Follow up with patients who could not initially be reached.
• Maintain professional, compassionate, and clear communication during all patient interactions.

Requirements

• Minimum 1–2 years of Medical Assistant experience REQUIRED. Prior experience communicating laboratory or diagnostic results to patients is strongly preferred.
• Full professional fluency in BOTH English and Spanish is REQUIRED. Candidate must be able to speak, read, and write fluently in both English and Spanish. This requirement is non-negotiable.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and professional phone etiquette.
• Strong understanding of basic medical terminology and laboratory results.
• Experience documenting in an EMR/EHR system.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow provider instructions accurately.
• Must be dependable, professional, organized, and comfortable making a high volume of outbound patient calls.

Schedule & Compensation
This is a part-time, in-office position at our Cutler Bay location. The schedule is negotiable and can be discussed during the interview process.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
