Travel Registered Nurse PACU Job

Responsibilities
- Provide post-anesthesia care for patients in Phase I and II recovery, ensuring stability and safety after anesthesia
- Monitor and document vital signs, airway status, ventilation, oxygenation, temperature, and cardiovascular status; identify and respond to signs of deterioration
- administer medications, IV fluids, analgesia, and antiemetics per care plan; manage PACU protocols
- Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and bedside staff; communicate patient status and discharge readiness
- Utilize PACU equipment and hospital systems (e.g., Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, warming devices, HP/Phillips monitors); document care accurately
- Assess incision sites, pain control, and overall recovery trajectory; determine appropriate discharge criteria from PACU

Requirements
- Hawaii state RN license active by start date (must obtain if not currently licensed)
- BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association; PALS recommended and may be required for specific positions
- 2+ years of critical care RN experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting; this may be substituted for PACU-specific experience
- PACU experience strongly preferred; candidates with robust CCU/ICU background may be considered
- Proof of flu vaccination or facility-approved exception required prior to contract start date (flu vaccination can be completed during employee health clearance)
- Onboarding requirement: arrive the Thursday before start to attend employee health appointment
- Ability to work in a PACU setting with appropriate patient monitoring, equipment, and team communication
- Additional specialty certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) may be required for specific positions
