PLUMBER I

To maintain, repair, or install plumbing facilities and to develop the advanced skills of a journeyman plumber. Responsible for the prompt performance of assigned plumbing and related duties. Frequently responsible for supervision of semi-skilled or unskilled workers. Description of Duties - Installs pipes, sinks, traps, washbowls, toilet fittings, drains, special laboratory sinks and drain tables. - Repairs and maintains valves, faucets, traps, sinks, and vents. - Connects hot water heaters, gas heaters and furnaces and tests for safety. - Repairs sewer pipes. - Unstops clogged lines. - Performs minor carpentry, digging and cleanup duties related to the assignment. - Emergency work on weekends/nights. - Performs other duties as assigned. Supervision Received Receives direction, instruction, and training from journeyman plumber or the lead/master plumber.
