Warehouse Manager - Flooring Industry

Position Overview

Lux Flooring is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Warehouse Manager to lead our distribution operations with precision, energy, and expertise. In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee daily distribution activities, direct receiving and fulfillment, manage inventory control processes, and ensure a seamless, safe logistics flow across all warehouse functions.

The role will include management of the local warehouse as well as provide advice and direction for our out of state 3PL Distribution warehouses in Salt Lake City, Dallas, Phoenix and Las Vegas.

The ideal candidate possesses deep domain expertise in the flooring industry, robust personnel management skills, and a strong track record of optimizing space, reducing operational costs, and driving team performance.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties. Operational Leadership & Logistics

• Plan, direct, and coordinate all daily activities pertaining to distribution, receiving, staging, and warehousing operations.
• Manage daily labor allocation, dynamically moving staff to high-priority areas as volume and business needs change throughout the shift.
• Oversee the general routing and dispatching of delivery trucks and ensure timely communication for container pickups and returns.
• Audit inbound containers, receipts, and order fulfillment to ensure staff adheres strictly to process standards and meets delivery deadlines.

2. Flooring Inventory & Material Handling

• Oversee the unloading, inspection, staging, and rotation of high-density flooring products, maintaining accurate locator systems and receiving reports.
• Ensure materials are stored strategically to maximize space utilization, protect product integrity, and comply with safety and weight distribution regulations.
• Monitor paperwork flow from receiving to inventory control for prompt data entry; resolve discrepancies regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiving reports with accounting.

3. Team Management & Talent Development

• Maintain appropriate personnel structure and staffing levels to fulfill the operational mission efficiently.
• Lead recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, training, and retention of warehouse personnel.
• Evaluate employee performance, conduct coaching, counseling, and performance appraisals, and administer disciplinary measures when necessary.

4. Safety, Equipment, & Facility Management

• Enforce federal, state, and local warehousing, shipping, OSHA, and DOT regulatory compliance across all material handling functions.
• Maintain physical conditions of the facility by planning updated design layouts, inspecting infrastructure, and issuing repair/replacement requisitions.
• Research, procure, and maintain specialized material handling equipment optimizing performance, safety, and cost.
• Ensure all operators are fully trained and certified to safely operate equipment and move materials across storage configurations.
• Establish and enforce robust warehouse security procedures and protocols to safeguard inventory and physical assets.

5. Financial Performance & Metrics

• Develop and manage annual operating budgets for the warehouse and receiving departments, anticipating future staffing and equipment needs.
• Utilize operational metrics and KPIs to measure performance, minimize operational costs, and drive overall throughput.
• Identify process gaps and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and operational productivity.

Qualifications & Requirements

[] Experience: 10+ years of progressive warehouse management experience strictly within the flooring industry.
[] Education: High school diploma or equivalency required; Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Administration preferred.
[] Technical Skills: Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP software, inventory control locator systems, and labor tracking systems. Strong Internet and Excel skills. Proficiency with the Google Workspace suite of products, a plus.
[] Equipment: Expertise in specialized flooring material handling equipment
[] Travel: There will be occasional out of state travel to 3PL Distribution warehouse for inventory inspection and operational reviews, as well as to Industry trade shows.
[] Compliance: In-depth working knowledge of OSHA standards; working knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance preferred.
[] Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and mentor large teams in a high-volume, fast-paced distribution environment.
