Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring compact NC RN licensure and 18 months of Med/Tele experience.

Details

• Hospital setting with 207 licensed beds, designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
• Assigned to a home unit on first day of orientation, with unit size and patient population varying by assignment
• Units may include ADTU, Ortho Surgical, Medical Telemetry, Surgical Telemetry, Cardiac Medical Telemetry, and general Medical units
• Patient types include CHF, COPD, stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, ESRD, post-surgical, and behavioral health cases depending on unit
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6 (critical surge up to 1:7-8) and CNA ratio of 1:6-12
• 12-hour night shift, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend, no on-call requirements
• Floating required to all units within scope at the facility and within the assigned region, including other regional hospitals as needed
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Ortho experience and spinal precautions knowledge required for 7N/S Ortho Surgical unit
• General Med/Tele skillset required, including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, and PCA pump use
• Experience with medication drip management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Support staff includes CNAs, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• No dedicated telemetry monitoring tech support
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
• Schedule cycle repeats every 6 weeks
• Navy scrub color required
• Free parking provided
• First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Previous employees must be separated from any facility within the health system for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
