Role Description The VP of Lending is a full-time, on-site position based in New York, NY, responsible for leading lending operations and driving production goals while ensuring sound credit quality and regulatory compliance. The role oversees the origination, structuring, and approval of mortgage loans, partnering with loan officers, underwriters, and operations teams to deliver a smooth borrower experience. Day-to-day activities include reviewing complex loan files, advising on lending strategies, managing pipeline performance, and implementing policies that align with company risk standards and investor guidelines. The VP of Lending collaborates with senior leadership to analyze market trends, optimize lending programs, and support training and development of lending staff. This position also involves fostering strong internal and external relationships to grow business volume while maintaining ethical, customer-focused practices. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong expertise in Consumer Lending and Loans, including mortgage products and borrower qualification standards. Candidates should possess solid experience in Underwriting, with the ability to evaluate credit risk, income, assets, and collateral for complex loan scenarios. Candidates should possess knowledge of Finance principles, including pricing, profitability analysis, and portfolio performance metrics. Candidates should possess familiarity with Commercial Lending where relevant, including understanding of business financials and property-related risk. Proven leadership experience in mortgage or lending operations, with a track record of managing teams and meeting production targets. Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and investor lending regulations and guidelines; NMLS registration or eligibility is preferred. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across sales, operations, and compliance functions.
