About the Role:

\n

Deal Lead is a senior transaction execution role responsible for leading the execution of asset-based lending transactions from initial opportunity through funding. The Deal Lead serves as the quarterback of each transaction, owning execution strategy, driving critical decisions, and maintaining accountability for a successful closing.

\n

\n

Working in partnership with Business Development, Underwriters, Credit, Legal Counsel, borrowers, sponsors and third-party advisors, the Deal Lead directs all transaction workstreams, resolves execution challenges, and ensures transactions are completed efficiently while maintaining FGI's underwriting standards and client experience.

\n

\n

The Deal Lead is part of FGI’s Finance Execution Team, reports to the Senior Managing Director, and will work on a hybrid schedule in FGI’s New York office.

\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Own the end-to-end execution of assigned lending transactions from initial opportunity through funding.
\n
• Work with Business Development to evaluate new prospects, assess collateral and credit risk, structure financing proposals, and lead term sheet negotiations through execution.
\n
• Serve as the transaction quarterback through diligence, documentation, and closing, and the primary point of accountability for execution strategy and timeline.
\n
• Lead transaction discussions with borrowers, private equity sponsors, legal counsel, and other financing parties regarding structure, diligence findings, documentation, and closing requirements.
\n
• Partner with Underwriters to evaluate diligence findings, challenge assumptions, identify key risks, and develop commercially sound financing structures.
\n
• Direct all internal and external transaction workstreams, including underwriting, legal documentation, field examinations, collateral appraisals, insurance, and third-party advisors to ensure execution remains on schedule.
\n
• Identify execution risks early, make commercial recommendations, and drive practical solutions to keep transactions moving toward closing.
\n
• Lead negotiation of business and execution matters while balancing client service with prudent risk management.
\n
• Prepare and present transaction updates, key issues, and recommendations to Executive Management and Credit Committee.
\n
• Build trusted relationships with borrowers, sponsors, referral sources, and professional advisors throughout the transaction lifecycle.
\n
• Drive accountability across all stakeholders and ensure transaction milestones, closing conditions, and funding requirements are achieved.
\n
• Mentor junior Deal Leads and Underwriters on transaction execution, documentation, and commercial judgment.
\n
• Identify opportunities to improve execution processes, documentation standards, and overall client experience.

Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
\n
• Approximately 10+ years of experience in asset-based lending, commercial finance, leveraged finance, investment banking, restructuring, private credit, or a similar transaction-oriented environment.
\n
• Demonstrated experience independently leading complex financing transactions through closing.
\n
• Strong understanding of commercial lending structures, collateral-based lending, credit analysis, and loan documentation.
\n
• Excellent project leadership, negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
\n
• Ability to exercise sound commercial judgment while managing multiple concurrent transactions.
\n
• Executive presence and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
