Litigation Associate | 3–8 Years' Experience Compensation: Competitive Salary (DOE) + Performance Bonus Firm: Growing National Defense Law Firm Billable Requirement: 2,000 Hours A highly regarded national litigation firm is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its expanding Orange County office. Due to continued growth and an increasing volume of complex litigation, the firm is looking to appoint an experienced attorney to handle a high-quality caseload of sophisticated defense matters. This opportunity offers exposure to complex, high-value litigation alongside experienced litigators within a collaborative and entrepreneurial team. The firm is continuing to grow and expects additional hiring as the practice expands. The Role The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of complex litigation matters, primarily focused on general liability and commercial insurance defense , while also gaining exposure to a range of private client commercial disputes. Cases regularly involve significant financial exposure and challenging legal issues, providing excellent experience for attorneys looking to develop their litigation careers. Key Responsibilities Manage a caseload of approximately 10–15 litigation files from inception through resolution Handle all stages of litigation, including pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances Work closely with partners on high-exposure and catastrophic loss matters Maintain regular communication with clients, insurers, experts, and opposing counsel Develop litigation strategy and manage files efficiently while meeting billable expectations Practice Areas General Liability Defense Commercial Litigation Product Liability Property Damage Claims Catastrophic Injury & Wrongful Death Entertainment & Recreation Liability Business-to-Business Litigation Requirements Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar Approximately 3–8 years' litigation experience (strong candidates outside this range will also be considered) Previous insurance defense or civil litigation experience preferred Strong drafting, advocacy, analytical, and client communication skills Ability to independently manage complex litigation matters while working collaboratively within a team Additional Information Hybrid working available, with flexibility for remote working within California Orange County location preferred, although California-based remote candidates will be considered Competitive salary based on experience Performance-based bonus structure Opportunity to work on sophisticated, multi-million-dollar litigation Strong long-term career progression within a growing national firm Collaborative culture with direct partner access and significant responsibility from day one This is an outstanding opportunity for a litigation attorney seeking high-quality work, genuine responsibility, and long-term career growth with a nationally recognized and expanding litigation practice.
