Executive Director of Economic Mobility and Workforce Innovation

The client is seeking an Executive Director of Economic Mobility and Workforce Innovation to provide strategic leadership for career-connected learning and workforce alignment. Reporting to the President, this role advances the EMWI division’s innovation agenda, fosters cross-sector partnerships, and ensures the organization remains responsive to evolving regional and industry workforce needs. The Executive Director will lead the design and growth of a portfolio of non-credit workforce programs and credit-bearing microcredentials that support career pathways for students toward family-sustaining wages. The role also leads the Office of Career Readiness and Success, cultivating an institutional culture that embeds real-world learning, experiential opportunities, and career preparedness across the student experience, while using collaboration to improve student success and strengthen workforce pipelines. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining employer partnerships that support curriculum and work-based learning initiatives, leading scalable workforce programs and career readiness efforts aligned to emerging industry needs, and establishing and monitoring performance indicators tied to enrollment, credential attainment, employment outcomes, employer satisfaction, partnership growth, grant performance, and revenue generation. The client also expects grant opportunity identification and proposal support in collaboration with the Grants Office, data-informed decision-making using evaluation and institutional research, and strategies that improve access, persistence, and completion for targeted populations; the role requires minimum five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in workforce development and/or higher education with relevant employer partnership and workforce strategy experience, and preference for experience supporting retention and success for historically underserved students.
