Position: Foundry Utility Worker
Reports to: Foundry Manager
Pay $23-$25/hr
Schedule: Mon.-Thurs. 3am-1pm

Job Summary:
The Foundry Utility Worker is responsible for a wide variety of duties throughout the foundry areas and in support of the operation, following standard procedures or specific instructions.

Job Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Prior grinding experience is a plus. Willing to train individuals without prior experience.
Skills: Position includes the use and reading of fixed gauges and other instructions not requiring interpretation. Moderate physical effort equivalent to continuous light, frequent average, or occasional heavy manual effort applied in various ways in the performance of different job duties.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Grind large and small castings, use of band saws, pouring molds, transport metal, core knockout, transport materials, and/or equipment with either a fork truck, payloader, or operation of a power vac.
• Assist the molder in machine set-up and clean the assigned areas.
• Repair pouring ladles.
• Detect and report all defective materials; refer questionable cases to proper supervision.
• Sort, clean, move castings and materials as required; operate shot blast cleaning equipment and fork trucks as required; sweep and clean area as directed; maintain equipment and area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Follow prescribed or standard safety regulations.
• Other duties as assigned

Physical and Mental Efforts:
General: Extensive mobility required, some moderate to heavy lifting. The position requires the ability to lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds occasionally, walk and stand for extended periods, see objects closely, and hear normal sounds with some background noise. The position requires the ability to concentrate with some interruption and attend to tasks for 45 to 60 minutes at a time.

Environmental and Working Conditions:
General: Extensive mobility required, some moderate to heavy lifting. The position requires the ability to lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds occasionally, as well as walking and standing for extended periods. It also involves seeing objects closely and exposure to extremely high temperatures. Additionally, it involves hearing normal sounds with some background noise. The position requires the ability to concentrate despite some interruptions and attend to tasks for 3-4 hours at a time.
