Bookkeeper (Construction Accounting)

We are partnering with a well-established construction company to find a detail-oriented Bookkeeper (Construction Accounting) to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with construction industry accounting experience who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and enjoys managing multiple priorities. 

• Position: Bookkeeper
• Location: Chicago, IL (60155)
• Employment Type: Direct Hire
• Pay: $65,000 – $75,000

Responsibilities:

• Prepare AIA pay applications and manage accounts receivable invoicing, including waivers, sworn statements, and subcontractor/supplier documentation

• Process contract work including AIA contracts and change orders

• Maintain accurate job costing across all active projects

• Handle permit procurement and coordination for contract work

• Manage warranty documentation and processing

• Provide general administrative and office support to ensure smooth daily operations

Required Experience:

• Experience in construction accounting or construction office administration required

• Experience in any of the following:

  • Accounts receivable and/or accounts payable

  • Purchasing or vendor management

  • Construction documents (AIA billing, waivers, sworn statements, contracts, change orders)

  • Job costing or project-based accounting

  • General accounting functions

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Comfortable in a fast-paced, project-based environment
