Senior Director - US Medical Affairs - Nephrology

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks a Senior Director of US Medical Affairs for its nephrology portfolio. This strategic leadership role involves planning and executing asset launches and lifecycle management, building and leading a medical team, and serving as the primary scientific authority for assigned nephrology products.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of US medical affairs strategy for assigned nephrology assets from pre-launch through lifecycle management
- Serve as primary internal medical-scientific authority, interpreting clinical trial data and real-world evidence to inform strategy
- Build and manage a team of Medical Directors and Associate Medical Directors
- Cultivate relationships with US nephrology thought leaders and academic investigators to support evidence generation
- Partner cross-functionally with Commercial, Market Access, and Regulatory teams to ensure aligned launch execution
Requirements
- Terminal doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, DO, or equivalent)
- 10+ years pharmaceutical/biotech medical affairs or related scientific experience
- Minimum 3 years supervisory/people management experience leading medical teams
- Strong nephrology, immunology, or related therapeutic area scientific knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute US market launch strategies
- Strategic acumen with proven cross-functional execution in matrixed environments
- Strong written and oral communication skills to influence senior leadership
Compensation: $252,000 - $378,000 base
