Customer Activation Manager

You own the entire customer journey from signed contract through onboarding and graduation. Every new activation flows through this role - you shape the first experience each customer has with the product. You'll run structured implementations for everyone from early-stage startups to 200+ person companies, often simultaneously, and work cross-functionally with Engineering, Tax Ops, and Customer Success to make sure no one falls through the cracks. Success is concrete: a 90%+ activation rate, with time to first payroll and graduation rate as your core KPIs.
What You'll Own- The onboarding journey, contract to graduation - every new customer flows through you, with clean handoff criteria into Account Management
- Tiered onboarding tracks - lightweight self-serve for small accounts, structured multi-stakeholder implementations for mid-market and enterprise, calibrated to what each customer actually needs
- First payroll, on time - hit the first eligible pay cycle by getting data migration, tax registrations, and bank verification right the first time
- The graduation bar - certify that stakeholders are engaged, post-go-live training is done, and feature adoption matches each customer's setup before they move on
- A portfolio of concurrent implementations - proactive outreach, clear timelines, zero dropped handoffs
- Go-live blockers - partner with Engineering, Tax Ops, and Support to clear obstacles and handle custom setup needs fast
- The playbook itself - continuously improve the templates, escalation paths, and graduation criteria that everyone runs on
- 3+ years in implementation, customer success, or project management in B2B SaaS with measurable onboarding or activation KPI ownership
- Project management DNA: organized, process-driven, and calm under pressure juggling multiple concurrent implementations
- Experience with payroll, HR tech, or fintech products - understands the stakes of a missed pay cycle
- Ability to calibrate approach by company size: a 5-person startup and a 120-person company need fundamentally different onboarding motions
- High agency and bias for action - moves without waiting to be unblocked
