Business Analyst

Job Summary:


The Business Analyst role in Columbus, OH is a senior-level position responsible for leading business analysis activities focused on the modernization and complete rewrite of enterprise .NET applications. This role acts as a critical liaison between business/program teams and software development teams to ensure clear communication, alignment, and traceability from requirements intake through delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Lead elicitation, documentation, and validation of business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
• Facilitate interviews and working sessions with program teams, subject matter experts, and technical staff.
• Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows.
• Document current state workflows, system dependencies, and processes.
• Design future state workflows aligned with modernization goals and .NET architectural changes.
• Create process maps, decision trees, and workflow diagrams using Visio and other modeling tools.
• Support data migration planning by documenting data models, business rules, and transformation logic.
• Develop quality-of-service (non-functional) requirements such as performance, scalability, security, and usability.
• Develop report specifications defining purpose, attributes, owners, and runtime parameters.
• Provide support for quality assurance testing, UAT coordination, defect triage, and validation of fixes.
• Review system behavior to ensure alignment with documented requirements and program expectations.
• Communicate project status, risks, and decisions to project management and leadership.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• 7 to 8 years of relevant business analysis experience, preferably involving legacy system migration, refactoring, or modernization projects.
• Strong skills in elicitation, documentation, and validation of requirements including non-functional requirements.
• Experience with application architecture, re-architecting, or rebuilding strategies involving Azure Functions, APIs, SQL Server, and .NET Core.
• Understanding of legacy systems analysis and integration points for modernization.
• Proficiency with project and portfolio management tools such as Clarity PPM, Azure DevOps, and SharePoint.
• 4-year college degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or Business with a technology focus.
• At least one certification from IIBA as a Business Analyst.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience leading cross-functional teams including development, operations, security, and business stakeholders.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, microservices architecture, and modern DevOps practices.
• Additional Agile or Scrum certifications to strengthen credibility.
• Strong organizational and technical writing skills, including graphic representation of complex business processes.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to coordinate and support quality assurance testing and user acceptance testing phases.
• Effective communication with multiple stakeholders including program teams and leadership is essential.

Scheduling:

• Regular daytime shift from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.
• Position duration is 11+ months with possibility of extension.
