*Role commences August 2026. Job Summary The Academic Coordinator supports the recruitment, engagement, and retention of middle school students at Tenacity’s after‑school and summer programs. Under the Site Leader, the role delivers high‑quality academic, literacy, fitness, and family engagement programming and leads all academic instruction and student outcomes. Key Responsibilities Demonstrated commitment to ensuring equity in classroom support, instruction, and behavior management. Supervise classroom operation and instructional experience, including management and direction of associate coordinators, volunteers, and part‑time staff. Ensure effective implementation of Tenacity's academic curriculum. Submit weekly lesson plans to the site team and/or management in an organized, timely manner. Develop and revisit instructional plans based on instructional goals and assessment data. Facilitate whole group and small group activities based on student needs. Manage student needs and behaviors during academic groups and provide one‑on‑one support when appropriate. Support integration of academic and tennis/fitness activities, especially in life skills. Recruit, select, and register middle school students for the Ace Academy Program. Maintain high student retention rates and site attendance. Meet expected student achievement goals. Co‑plan and attend events, field trips, and other activities, including some evening and/or weekend events. Build and manage relationships with teachers and families to discuss student progress and assessment data. Participate regularly in school meetings (student support meetings, IEP meetings, Instructional Leadership Team, school assessment reflection sessions, professional development sessions). Collaborate and share best practices with coordinators from all Ace Academy sites. During summer, work in the Summer Tennis and Reading program or prepare for next year’s Ace Academy program as directed by the Chief of the Pathway to Post‑Secondary Success. Assist in other program areas such as Family Engagement. Skills and Qualifications Commitment to equity in academic program implementation and supporting students in overcoming systemic inequities. Instructional and program management experience, preferably with urban, multicultural middle school‑aged students. Experience successfully managing/overseeing a classroom or youth development group. Behavior management experience. Lesson planning/lesson design familiarity. Strong interpersonal, team development, management, organizational and verbal/written communication skills. Relationship management skills and experience, especially working with families, teachers, and principals. Bachelor's degree preferred; focus in education, human services, social work, or related field is a plus. Master's degree a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft product suites. Some tennis experience a plus. Driver’s license desired. Consistent access to a car desired. Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $50,000 - $58,000 annually (based on experience).
