Paralegal

Senior Litigation Paralegal

The Senior Litigation Paralegal will work closely with attorneys and support staff on all aspects of active litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, subpoenas, court filings, calendaring, trial preparation, and client communication. The position will also provide guidance and support to legal assistants within the department.

Litigation Preparation & Discovery

• Draft, file, and coordinate service of complaints and other litigation documents
• Draft and serve deposition notices
• Prepare and serve subpoenas for non-party witnesses, treating providers, and other relevant parties
• Prepare discovery requests and objections and assist attorneys with reviewing and finalizing discovery responses
• Coordinate process service and track completion
• Monitor answers, responsive pleadings, and entry of defaults
• Assist with trial preparation, including filing trial documents and coordinating witness and expert testimony schedules

Court & Case Management

• Prepare and file pleadings and other legal documents in compliance with court and jurisdictional requirements
• Maintain comprehensive case calendars and monitor statutes of limitation, hearing dates, discovery deadlines, and other procedural deadlines
• Communicate with court clerks and opposing counsel to facilitate case progression
• Identify and address procedural issues before they impact a case

Client & Attorney Support

• Communicate directly and professionally with clients regarding case-related matters
• Provide Spanish interpretation for Spanish-speaking clients when necessary
• Assist attorneys with case preparation and settlement efforts
• Anticipate attorney and case needs rather than waiting for assignments
• Resolve issues involving clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors

Team Leadership

• Supervise, mentor, and delegate assignments to legal assistants
• Ensure delegated work is completed accurately and on time
• Serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding litigation procedure, calendaring, filings, and case management

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in plaintiff-side personal injury
• Strong working knowledge of California civil procedure, discovery rules, and state court filing requirements
• Experience drafting complaints, discovery, deposition notices, subpoenas, and other litigation documents
• Exceptional calendaring and deadline-management skills
• Ability to independently manage multiple cases and competing priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience supervising or mentoring legal assistants
• Paralegal certification preferred
• Spanish-speaking ability preferred but not required

• $40-$58 per hour, depending on experience
