Associate Attorney (3-5 yrs) - San Francisco

Insurance Coverage Associate Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking an Insurance Coverage Associate with 3-5 years of experience to join its growing insurance coverage practice in California. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in sophisticated coverage analysis and litigation involving a broad range of liability insurance products. The successful candidate will work closely with domestic and international insurers on complex coverage matters while enjoying significant client contact, hands-on responsibility, and strong opportunities for professional development. Responsibilities Advise domestic and international insurers regarding coverage issues arising under a variety of liability policies, including: Directors & Officers (D&O) Employment Practices Liability (EPL) Professional Liability Commercial General Liability (CGL) Commercial Auto Liability Analyze policy language and evaluate coverage obligations and defenses Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, denial letters, and other coverage-related correspondence Conduct legal research and prepare detailed memoranda on insurance coverage issues Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and discovery responses Review and analyze documents and materials produced during litigation and investigations Participate in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and other proceedings Develop litigation and claim-handling strategies Communicate regularly with insurer clients and insureds regarding case developments and risk assessments Assist with trial preparation and participate in mediations and trials as needed Manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school Active membership in good standing with the California Bar 3-5 years of insurance coverage experience Experience analyzing and advising on complex insurance coverage matters Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills Excellent organizational and project management abilities Ability to independently manage multiple sensitive and time-sensitive matters Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment Preferred Qualifications Litigation experience Experience representing insurance carriers in coverage disputes Additional state bar admissions are a plus Experience handling complex liability insurance matters Why This Opportunity Our client offers attorneys the ability to work on sophisticated insurance coverage matters within a highly respected international platform.
