Maintenance Technician

Job Summary The Maintenance Technician will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production equipment. Your overall contributions will directly impact our working environment by helping to minimize production downtime and ensure the reliability and good state of repair for all facility systems and production equipment. Essential Functions Comply with Westlake Royal Safety Policies and Procedures Provide safety leadership in promoting and creating a zero-injury safety culture Ability to solve practical mechanical/process problems and work in a fast-paced environment Ability to understand and follow verbal, written, or diagram instructions Communicate with shift supervisors, and other line support regarding maintenance issues Ensure proper performance of all plant maintenance processes/systems and production equipment through effective use of planning, troubleshooting and/or diagnostics skills Ensure proper preventative maintenance on all plant systems and production equipment to maximize machine uptime Ensure compliance with all maintenance processes and work being performed Assist in determining necessary actions to address quality issues on molds, stones, and production equipment, as necessary Housekeeping standards Conduct huddle meeting with maintenance techs Assign work orders to each maintenance technician Communicate with shift supervisors and all operational support personnel regarding maintenance issues Ensure compliance with all maintenance work being performed Keep maintenance leadership informed of maintenance issues Generates work orders and closes them out in SAP Follows up and reports craftsmanship to maintenance supervisor Provide peer coaching discussions to correct issues Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein Perform at an acceptable level as required to meet or exceed daily safety, quality and productivity standards Mechanical/electrical troubleshooting Blueprint/Diagram reading Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Work well with conflicting priorities and deadlines Strong organizational skills Strategic thinker Strong work ethic Adapt easily to changing conditions, requirements, and environment Self-directed, independent worker Tactful, diplomatic, empathetic – says the right thing, knows how to bridge gaps of understanding, and is sensitive to others Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and blueprints, procedure manuals Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications Ability to analyze and solve problems Ability to work with others collaboratively Strong organizational skills and basic math skills Education And/Or Experience The employee should have the following: High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in relevant skill or trade 1 - 2 years’ experience in a relevant field Physical Requirements/Work Environment Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out Prolong standing or being in a stationary position Complete repetitive movements Bend and/or twist Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions Must tolerate an environment with interior ambient temperatures Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision, hardhat protection, safety shoes, etc.) This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job-related responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, requirements or working conditions.
