Payroll Specialist

About the Role We have a current opening for a Payroll Specialist and are actively reviewing applications. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll for both hourly and salary employees, maintaining payroll reports and records, and addressing employee inquiries on payroll‑related matters while working with and through the human resources group for the Augusta, GA and Florence, KY locations. Main Responsibilities Ensure accurate and timely processing and recording of time and pay for multi‑state payroll, which includes 700+ employees in a fast‑paced environment while meeting critical deadlines. Maintain data completeness in the timekeeping system and ensure proper interfacing into the payroll system. Compile, balance, and ensure compliance requirements are met for additional earnings submissions, time corrections, and rate overrides from multiple locations, validating results in the payroll system. Review payroll reports to confirm data is balanced with timekeeping and department/base submission reports, identifying out‑of‑balance conditions that need correction. Process unemployment claims through a third‑party vendor. Provide support for external and internal audits related to pay items. Support payroll projects, process improvement initiatives, and other duties as assigned. About You Associate's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience, or a preferred equivalent experience. Strong organizational, communication, and attention‑to‑detail skills. Strong math aptitude, Excel proficiency, and problem‑solving abilities. Previous experience with large payroll systems such as UKG, KRONOS, or SAP. Ability to manage conflicting priorities and maintain workload pressure under strict deadlines. Ability to meet critical deadlines and adapt to circumstances beyond control. Comfort handling sensitive and confidential information.
