Accounting Clerk I

Schedule/Hours: Monday – Thursday 8a-4:30p & Friday’s 8a-2:30pmThis position is responsible for:Performs various routine clerical and accounting functions, including financial recordkeeping and reporting. Processes bank deposits. Data entry for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.Key Responsibilities:Receives, sorts, and distributes department mail in an accurate and timely manner; ensures that all mail received is forwarded to the appropriate person and/or destination; collects and prepares outgoing mail for the department.Prepares and processes financial documents for account payable such as invoices, petty cash vouchers, or check requests; reviews and verifies the same for accuracy and completeness.Communicates with vendors to resolve routine problems such as unpaid invoices, overpayment, requests for copies of invoices, etc.; researched unpaid invoices as requested.Receives, records, and prepares daily bank deposits; makes daily entries into accounting software.Prepares correspondence regarding the status of accounts and responds to account inquiries; ensures all correspondence is designed professionally and tactfully.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Physical Requirements:Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.Ability to type and keypunch information into a computer.Ability to perform mathematical calculations.Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically.Ability to operate general office equipment, including a telephone, typewriter, computer, and adding machine.Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or speaking in person to clients requiring assistance.Duties are usually performed seated. However, sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Physical effort is required for walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 10% of work time.Working Conditions:Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, and heat, or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
