Freight Broker - National Account Manager

Opportunity: Mid-Sr. Level Freight Broker (3PL)

Location: Glen Ellyn, Illinois - On site (Hybrid available for Brokers with their own Books)

Compensation: Up to $100,000 Base with Commission Splits Up to 40% of GP

Role Description: The Freight Broker - National Account Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in Glen Ellyn, IL. Hyrid is optional for Brokers with a Transferrable book of business or those interested in Commission Only Sales. This role is responsible for building out a successful book of business with shippers across the country and managing those key accounts by securing freight opportunities, negotiating rates, and ensuring reliable carrier capacity. Day-to-day tasks include building and maintaining relationships with shippers and carriers, overseeing dispatch activities, and monitoring shipments to ensure on-time delivery and issue resolution. The position involves tracking market trends, providing accurate quotes, and coordinating with internal logistics teams to optimize routes and margins. The National Account Manager also prepares reports, maintains accurate documentation, and proactively communicates with customers to deliver consistent service to customers, carriers and the like.

Qualifications

• Strong 3PL Freight Brokerage and Sales skills, with experience managing client accounts, pricing, negotiating rates and securing carriers.
• Customer Service and Account Management skills to build, retain, and grow national client relationships.
• Dispatching skills, including coordinating loads, assigning carriers, and resolving in-transit issues. (Brokers with a book of business will have load coverage support at hire)
• Knowledge of over-the-road trucking operations, including FTL, spot freight, and specialized/oversized shipments.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with transportation management systems and basic office software (e.g., Excel, email, CRM tools).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize multiple tasks, and make sound decisions under time constraints.
• Previous experience in logistics, transportation, or freight brokerage; national account experience is highly beneficial.
• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or related field is a plus.

• Proven success as a full service/end to end Freight Broker, Logistics Account Executive, or similar role
• Established book of business or previous book of shippers/relationships
• Strong shipper and carrier relationships
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, in-office brokerage environment
• In depth experience and understanding of the OTR Trucking Market
• Self-motivated with a strong focus on personal and career growth
