Job Summary: Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and MD/Provider with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary. Assists in the daily functioning of the department. Functions as triage tech. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related

experience: Preferred * Two years' technical experience: Preferred Licenses/Certifications:

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS)

certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required * Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred * Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred Facility Specific License/Certifications: * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Department Specific License/Certifications: * Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or National Emergency Medical Tech (NEMT): Required * Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A: Required Essential Functions: * Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations. * Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position. Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment. * Provides patient and family education and mentors and trains staff on technical skills within scope of practice. * Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care. * Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
