Vice President, Valuations

Essential Functions

• Lead & Manage the Internal Valuations team. Develop & implement processes and procedures, as well as new systems to improve internal valuation functions

• Perform and/or review appraisals, appraisal reviews, and market analyses for construction and development lending transactions.

• Analyze feasibility studies, absorption analyses, construction budgets, pro formas, and market trends affecting collateral value.

• Evaluate "as-is," "as-complete," and "as-stabilized" values for proposed and existing projects.

• Assess highest and best use, zoning, entitlements, and marketability of collateral.

• Review third-party appraisal reports for compliance with USPAP, FIRREA, Interagency Appraisal Guidelines, and internal credit policy.

• Identify valuation risks and communicate findings to lending and credit teams.

• Support underwriting of acquisition, construction, bridge, and permanent financing transactions.

• Conduct site inspections and monitor market conditions impacting project performance and collateral value.

• Assist in establishing appraisal policies, procedures, and quality control standards.

• Mentor junior appraisal staff and provide technical guidance on complex valuation assignments.

• Maintain relationships with approved appraisal vendors and manage external appraisal engagements.

• Prepare clear, concise valuation reports and present findings to senior management and loan committees when required.

• Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, and portfolio reviews.

Competencies/Skills

• Strong knowledge of commercial real estate valuation methodologies, including income capitalization, discounted cash flow, sales comparison, and cost approaches.

• Experience reviewing construction budgets, plans/specifications, feasibility studies, and developer financials.

• Thorough understanding of USPAP, FIRREA, banking regulations, and appraisal review standards.

• Proficiency in Argus, Excel, and appraisal/reporting software platforms.

• Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.

• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced lending environment.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.

• Certified General Real Estate Appraiser designation required.

• Minimum 7–10 years of commercial real estate appraisal experience, with significant exposure to construction and development lending.

• Experience working directly for a bank, debt fund, construction lender, or regulated financial institution.

• MAI designation or progress toward designation preferred.

• Experience across multiple asset classes including multifamily, industrial, retail, office, hospitality, and land development.

Salary: $125,000-$130,000
