This role handles complex mechanical and electrical issues, supports plant utilities, and provides technical guidance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Equipment Maintenance & TroubleshootingDiagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment across casting, pasting, cell, and final assembly operations, as well as all supporting equipmentPerform advanced troubleshooting on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systemsExecute preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and uptimeIdentify root causes of recurring failures and implement corrective actionsSupport Production OperationsRespond to equipment downtime with urgency to restore productionSupport line changeovers, startups, and equipment adjustmentsWork closely with operations to prioritize maintenance activities and minimize disruptionTechnical ContributionProvide hands-on assistance to less experienced mechanics/technicians as neededAssist in coordinating daily maintenance activities and communicating prioritiesHelp drive consistent troubleshooting and repair practices across the maintenance teamFabrication & Equipment ImprovementFabricate or modify guards, brackets, fixtures, and machine components to improve safety and reliabilitySupport equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiativesAssist with installation and commissioning of new or modified equipmentUtilities & Facility SupportMonitor and support plant utility systems, including dust collection and wastewater treatmentIdentify and address issues that may impact safety, compliance, or production uptimeSupport compressed air and other plant support systems as neededSafety & ComplianceFollow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirementsWork safely in a battery manufacturing environment with lead exposure controlsIdentify and report unsafe conditions and participate in corrective actionsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesN/ACompetenciesStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilitySense of urgency in supporting productionSafety-first mindsetAccountability and ownership of equipment performanceAbility to work independently and support team successClear, direct communication in a production environmentQualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredTechnical training or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance (preferred but not required)10+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environmentTechnical SkillsElectrical & ControlsStrong working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including ability to:Troubleshoot 120V–480V circuits in a manufacturing environmentDiagnose issues with motors, starters, contactors, overloads, and disconnectsIdentify faults in sensors, switches, relays, and control componentsTroubleshoot VFDs, soft starts, and motor control systemsUse multimeters and clamp meters to safely identify electrical issuesAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, and panel layoutsFamiliarity with PLC-controlled equipment, including:Ability to troubleshoot basic I/O issues, identify electrical vs. controls-related problems, and work with controls or engineering to resolve issuesMechanical ExpertiseAdvanced mechanical troubleshooting and repair of complex production equipmentStrong understanding of rotating equipment, including shafts, bearings, couplings, and alignmentExperience diagnosing and repairing:Conveyors and automated material handling systemsGearboxes, chains, belts, and drive systemsHydraulic and pneumatic systems (valves, cylinders, regulators)Ability to perform precision mechanical work, including alignment, fitting, and component replacementStrong understanding of wear patterns, failure modes, and root cause identificationFabrication & MachiningProficient in fabrication and repair of equipment components, including:Welding (MIG preferred; TIG/Stick a plus)Cutting, grinding, and fitting of metal componentsExperience operating shop equipment:Lathe, drill press, grinders, and other machining toolsAbility to fabricate guards, brackets, fixtures, and modify equipment to improve safety and reliabilityThermal & Process EquipmentExperience with gas-fired and temperature-controlled equipment, including:Industrial ovens, dryers, and curing systemsGas burners, regulators, and valve trainsFlame safety devices and basic combustion systemsAbility to troubleshoot heating, airflow, and temperature control issues affecting productionPlant Utilities & Support SystemsStrong understanding of plant utility systems and their impact on production, including:Dust collection systems (baghouses, fans, ducting, filtration)Wastewater treatment and filtration systemsCompressed air systems and distributionAbility to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that impact environmental systems and uptimeLanguage SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Mathematical SkillsAbility to identify and explain the use of special measuring devices; Use table weights and measurements; ability to use formulas to solve basic problems, including volume, circumference, right triangles using Pythagorean theorem.Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
