Work Environment
You work a consistent daytime schedule, Monday through Friday, five days a week, with 8-hour shifts from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The facility focuses on machining large parts in low-quantity runs, using a combination of manual lathes, CNC machines, and conventional equipment. You operate in a clean, professional production environment with access to conventional inspection devices and standard shop tools for grinding, deburring, and finishing. Responsibilities
- Operate and set up CNC and conventional machines to produce precision components for medical devices.
- Run and primarily operate a manual lathe to machine large parts in low-volume production.
- Perform machine changeovers efficiently to accommodate different parts and setups.
- Adjust and change tool offsets at the machines to maintain accuracy and part quality.
- Deburr machined parts to remove sharp edges and ensure safe, high-quality finishes.
- Wash and bag components according to internal procedures and quality standards.
- Grind cutting tools to maintain sharpness and optimal cutting performance.
- Check parts using conventional inspection devices to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Follow blueprints and technical drawings to produce parts to specification.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area, adhering to all safety guidelines and company policies.
- Collaborate with coworkers and supervisors to resolve machining issues and improve processes.
- Handle and move materials and parts, including lifting items up to 40 pounds as needed.
- 5 to 8 years of machining experience, including both conventional and CNC machining, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Hands-on experience operating and setting up CNC machines and conventional machines.
- Proficiency in operating a manual lathe as a primary machine for large, low-quantity parts.
- Ability to change tool offsets at the machine to maintain dimensional accuracy.
- Experience grinding cutting tools to maintain cutting performance and tool life.
- Proficiency in deburring machined parts and finishing components to required standards.
- Ability to check parts using conventional inspection devices such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Capability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Prior CNC experience in a production or job-shop environment.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and following safety procedures.
- High School Diploma required; a certificate from NTMA or equivalent technical education is preferred.
- Experience with large-part machining in a low-quantity production environment.
- Familiarity with machine changeovers and efficient setup practices.
- Strong attention to detail and quality, particularly for components used in medical devices.
- Comfort working with both manual and CNC equipment in a production setting.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers.
