Job Title: Counter Sales Clerk / Admin Support

Job Description

This position serves as a dependable, customer-focused Administrative / Counter Sales Clerk who supports a fast-paced sales environment. You act as the first point of contact for walk-in customers, provide front counter and administrative support, and help ensure smooth daily operations through accurate order processing, clear communication, and organized recordkeeping.

Mon-Fri 7-3:30

$22/hr. during training period, $26-30 after training period

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist walk-in customers at the sales counter in a professional and friendly manner.
• Process and close out customer will-call purchases accurately and efficiently.
• Answer incoming phone calls and route inquiries to the appropriate sales staff or department.
• Provide basic product information and support to customers, including contractors and construction-related clients.
• Maintain organized and accurate records of orders, transactions, and customer interactions.
• Perform order entry and order processing tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Assist with administrative duties such as email correspondence using Microsoft Outlook and general data entry.
• Coordinate with the sales team to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
• Support general office operations, including front counter activities and basic clerical tasks.
• Help maintain an orderly counter area and contribute to a clean and professional office environment.
• Assist with inventory-related activities such as order tracking and cycle counts as needed.

Essential Skills

• Previous customer service or counter sales experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Outlook and general Microsoft Office or similar office software.
• Ability to perform accurate data entry and manage order entry and order processing tasks.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort working with contractors and construction-related customers at the sales counter.
• Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a team-oriented mindset.
• Customer support and customer service experience in a front-facing role.
• Ability to maintain attention to detail while handling multiple customer requests.
• Basic product knowledge aptitude and willingness to learn product lines relevant to the facility.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in counter sales, sales support, or order entry within a distribution, lumber, or construction-related environment preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with inventory processes, including basic inventory checks and cycle counts.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office applications for routine administrative tasks.
• Experience supporting a sales team with order processing and customer follow-up.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing customer needs and priorities.

Work Environment

The role is based in a lumber and truss assembly and distribution facility that includes office areas, cubicles, sales counters, and lumber yards. You primarily work at the front counter and in office spaces, interacting regularly with customers, sales staff, and operations personnel. The environment combines typical office tools such as computers, Microsoft Outlook, and general office software with proximity to an active yard and distribution setting. You should be comfortable moving between office and counter areas and working in a setting connected to construction and building materials.

This is a Contract position based out of Woodland, WA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
