About the Role
The Company is in search of a Managing Director for Direct Private Equity. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the firm's direct private equity activities, shaping investment strategy, and overseeing a portfolio of non-media investments. This role demands a seasoned private equity investor with a proven track record in the lower and middle market, particularly in founder- and family-owned businesses and corporate carve-outs. The Managing Director will be expected to set and refine the company's direct private equity strategy, develop selective consolidation theses, and lead the full investment process from sourcing to execution. Institutional investing discipline, a substantial investment track record, and expertise in buy-and-build strategies are essential. Key responsibilities for the Managing Director include serving on portfolio company boards, monitoring performance, and leading add-on acquisition programs. The role also involves leadership and firm-building activities, such as hiring and mentoring investment professionals. The ideal candidate will have at least 12 years' of direct private equity investing experience, a strong network of market relationships, and the ability to attract and manage capital. The position requires a leader with high strategic IQ, quick and decisive judgment, and a commitment to the company's standards of disciplined underwriting and attractive risk-adjusted returns. A Bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for an M.B.A. or advanced degree, and the candidate should demonstrate exceptional integrity, communication skills, and an ownership mentality.
