Phlebotomist

Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and monitor the pheresis process in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Execute all aspects of the pheresis procedure, including donor set‑up, monitoring, and disconnect. Assess vein performance, make necessary adjustments to expedite donation and ensure donor safety. Educate new donors on therapeutic products derived from plasma, the screening process, health tests performed, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, nutrition, and other pertinent information; answer donor questions accurately and professionally. Remain alert to donor reactions and respond promptly or notify appropriate staff. Use a Personal Digital Assistant to record incidents during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts, volume variances, and donor adverse events. Conduct calibrations, verify maintenance per SOPs, and address complex equipment alarms or donor issues. Troubleshoot equipment failures, document incidents, and remove or replace equipment from service as needed. Monitor donor flow on the donor floor to ensure continuous turnover; alert the Group Leader or Supervisor of any flow issues. Collect arm or whole‑blood samples from donors for testing. Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system per SOPs. Understand policies and procedures related to hyper‑immune programs when applicable. Maintain a clean, efficient work environment; ensure supplies and forms are available; follow Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies; promote safety in all actions. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information. Cross‑train in other areas to meet the needs of the business. Bilingual skills may be required at the discretion of the organization. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum twelve (12) months experience in a medical or health‑care environment preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. For Centers located in California: Must be state certified as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I, or Hold current Registered Nurse certification by the State of California. The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $21.34/hour - $23.30/hour. Individual base pay for a successful candidate within this range is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
