Tax Senior – Public Accounting

We’re partnering with a well‑established small public accounting firm in the Chattanooga area that is looking to add a Tax Senior to their team. This role is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys working with a broad client base, values strong client relationships, and prefers a supportive, balanced, and relaxed environment over a large‑firm grind.

What You’ll Do

As a Tax Senior , you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality tax services while working closely with firm leadership and clients across a variety of industries.

• Prepare and review individual (1040), partnership, and S corporation tax returns
• Manage multiple tax engagements and deadlines during busy season and throughout the year
• Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and resolve tax matters
• Identify tax issues, planning opportunities, and potential risks
• Research tax questions and apply federal and state tax regulations appropriately
• Support clients year‑round with extensions, estimates, notices, and planning
• Work with businesses in service, retail, construction, and professional services
• Mentor and support junior staff as needed
• Collaborate with firm leadership to ensure efficient workflows and high‑quality client service

What They’re Looking For

• 3+ years of public accounting tax experience
• Hands‑on experience with individual, partnership, and S‑corp returns
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
• CPA preferred , but not required
• Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Strong communication skills and client‑service mindset
• Experience with small to midsize business clients is a plus
