General Statement of Responsibilities


The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) gives guidance in developing and maintaining a total school health program. She/he works with the administration to properly direct and carry out appropriate health services activities.


Qualifications & Experience

1. Current license to practice as a professional Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Arizona
2. Current CPR/First-Aid Certification
3. Recent experience in public health, school nursing, and/or maternal child-health nursing preferred
4. Must possess good verbal, written, and human relation skills
5. Proficient computer skills
6. Ability to work independently
7. Effective organizational and time-management skills
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality
9. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees, community, and staff
10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities & Duties

1. Takes direction and seeks guidance from an assigned District's Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
2. Participates in the formulation of policies, standards, and objectives of the school health program
3. Keeps the administrators and other school personnel informed about problems and acquaints them with the resources of the community
4. Observes the school environment for safety hazards and sanitary conditions and reports to responsible persons
5. Ensures compliance of immunizations for staff as well as students
6. Participates in faculty and/or parent meetings as needed (Including IEP and 504 meetings)
7. Serves as a resource person in the area of health to school personnel, students and parents
8. Acts as the District's liaison to the community health service agencies
9. Studies and evaluates own job performance and plans for continuing professional growth
10. Assumes responsibility for screening procedures such as those for hearing and vision
11. Maintains and uses cumulative health records for all students
12. Participates in formulating policies for the care of the student who becomes ill or who is injured at school
13. Collaborates with Executive Director of Special Services and Health Services Lead for ongoing Health Services Program improvement and professional learningPerforms any other duties as assigned by supervisor

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus and monitor students on the periphery.

Working Environment


The employee regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

10 months (172 days)
4-day school week
8.75 hours per day/ Monday-Thursday
6 hours per day on Fridays indicated on the 2025-2026 School Secretary & Health Office Work Calendar

Compensation


$17.77 - $18.66
Level 6 on the Board Approved 2024-2025 Support Staff Wage Schedule
