Area Sales Director

Our client is a growing medical device business specialising in innovative orthopaedic technologies. They are currently expanding their commercial presence in the United States and are seeking an experienced Area Sales Director to lead growth across the Northeast.

You will be responsible for:

• Developing and executing the regional commercial strategy to drive revenue growth across the Northeast.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with orthopaedic surgeons, hospital systems, and key clinical stakeholders.
• Managing, developing, and recruiting a high-performing network of distributors and independent sales partners.
• Identifying and securing new accounts, supporting product evaluations and driving the adoption of new technology.
• Establishing regional sales plans, forecasts, and territory priorities to ensure commercial objectives are met.
• Representing the business at key industry meetings and gathering market intelligence on competitors and opportunities.

We are seeking candidates with:

Essential Experience

• A strong track record in medical device sales, specifically within orthopaedics (e.g., trauma, extremities, fixation).
• A demonstrable history of exceeding sales targets and delivering consistent revenue growth.
• An established network of relationships with orthopaedic surgeons and hospitals across the Northeast USA.
• Experience in managing, developing, or leading distributors, independent sales agents, or a direct sales team.
• Excellent commercial acumen and a deep understanding of the US hospital procurement and sales environment.

Desirable Experience

• Specific expertise in foot and ankle, upper extremity, or trauma markets.
• Experience with new product launches or scaling an emerging medical technology.
• Prior experience in a regional sales leadership or dedicated distributor management role.
• Familiarity with hospital contracting, IDNs, and value analysis committee (VAC) processes.

Package:

• Base salary: £120,000 - £140,000
• Bonus: Competitive bonus structure
