$73k - $78kMinerva University
About Minerva University Minerva University is a non-profit, U.S.-accredited institution of higher education that prepares students to become innovators and global leaders in various disciplines. Minerva has been ranked the #1 most innovative university in the world for five consecutive years in a row by World’s Universities with Real Impact (WURI), an organization whose partners include the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. We have reimagined higher education at every level, from how we equalize access to talented students from around the world, how we leverage the possibilities of global immersion, and how we teach. We are well known for our undergraduate program where students live together in residence halls, traveling to 4 different continents around the world over their four years of study. We teach using Forum, a web-based platform that supports real-time, synchronous seminars (ranging from 15-19 students) with high levels of student‑faculty interaction. All Minerva classes are seminars, not lecture courses, and use active learning to help students learn to think critically and creatively as well as to communicate and interact effectively with others. The majority of our students are undergraduates pursuing four-year degrees. Minerva offers a Master of Science in Decision Analysis, as well as other programming for professional learners, which we are actively looking to scale over the upcoming few years. About Coaching & Talent Development Minerva students show up with ambition and we support them with direction. CTD empowers Minerva students to create and pursue meaningful lives and careers by exploring, identifying, testing, and developing the skills and characteristics that will support them to thrive personally and professionally. Our programs and services encourage students to develop mindsets & behaviors that enable success in the short and long term; understand and articulate their values, interests, and strengths; identify market realities and needs in the world and engage authentically with others to further their professional development in a global, ever‑changing context. You'll be joining a lively global group of coaches on the Coaching & Talent Development (CTD) team dedicated to helping students clarify their ambition, connect it to real opportunity, and communicate it with confidence. The Role This role is for someone eager to make a meaningful impact on an intellectually diverse, mission‑driven student body from around the world, while growing as a coach and education professional. You'll primarily support freshmen through the design and delivery of 1:1 coaching, group coaching, workshops, and hands‑on programs in San Francisco and virtually. You'll also provide coaching and programming to students and alumni well beyond the first‑year class and across time zones. It's a role with range - coaching, curriculum design, facilitation, employer engagement, event execution, communications, and program assessment - and there’s tons of room for innovation, creativity, and collaboration with CTD and across the university (e.g., Student Life, Academics, Alumni Affairs, Enrollment). What You'll Do Coaching Provide 1:1 coaching to help students navigate their Minerva journey, reflect on their growth - in and outside the classroom - and prioritize each semester based on what’s most important to them. Provide guidance and resources for career exploration and experiments, the job search, and growth mindsets. Co‑design and lead first‑year Group Coaching sessions, career‑development labs, and other interactive programs. Program Implementation Design, deliver, and continuously improve CTD's first‑year career‑development experience. Coordinate employer, alumni, and community site visits. Support CTD and university milestone events through planning, facilitation, and staffing. Supervise student interns or work‑study employees, when assigned. Measure & Improve Track student engagement across Coaching, Group Coaching, Labs and Site Visits. Use participation data, coaching themes, and feedback to identify emergent needs and iterate on programming. Maintain accurate and timely coaching notes and documentation; contribute to reports, annual planning, and leadership presentations. Use technology and AI ethically, thoughtfully, and creatively to strengthen resources, communications, and operations without losing the human touch that makes CTD successful. Location, Special Conditions, and Travel: We are hiring for a Coach based in the San Francisco Bay Area region who will work out of our SF Residence Hall 2-3 times a week. This role will require occasional evening and weekend work, supporting occasional events, off‑site programs, prospective student and partner visits, and local travel. The role may require some international travel. These international trips serve to further build connections with our global student life staff, professional partners, and students through your participation in milestone events and in‑person CTD programming. Salary: $73,000 - $78,000 Requirements: Who You Are A proactive, student‑centered, curious, and innovative early career professional, who is an engaging facilitator, creative problem solver, relationship builder, and organized program manager, equally comfortable one‑on‑one with a student, in front of a room, or deep in strategic program planning. We support developing talent! If you don’t meet 100% of the qualifications and feel you’d be a fit, apply and let us know what will make you a great candidate! Required Enthusiasm for coaching (individual and group) designing and facilitating workshops, training, or student‑development curriculum, and building external partnerships. An understanding of and ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds with experience supporting the development of young adults. Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong program‑management and organizational skills across multiple programs, deadlines, events, and stakeholders. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, cross‑functional team across time zones. A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias Sound judgment, discretion, emotional intelligence, and respect for student confidentiality. Thoughtful familiarity and comfort with AI. Nice to Have At least 1 year of professional experience advising on career exploration and opportunities, or recruiting undergraduate students into highly desirable roles, specifically in the US jobs market Knowledge of career development theories, adult development theory, career decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques Experience supporting a globally diverse population.
