Community Engagement Coordinator

The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) will positively and effectively market and promote BIAD through social media, print media, in-person events and other venues. The CEC reports to the Executive Director (ED) and collaborates with the program directors to advance BIAD’s mission to foster confidence and growth in youth through immersive experiences in entrepreneurship, leadership, and the arts. Key Responsibilities Work with the ED to create a community engagement plan with measurable goals. Create communication strategies for schools, teachers, parents, students, program alumni, donors, sponsors, etc. Maintain a calendar of BIAD events (including outreach and fundraising events) including marketing strategies and needs for each. Marketing and Communication Maintain and update the database of contacts. Update and improve the BIAD website to distribute relevant information. Create marketing materials, including flyers and graphics, for BIAD events and general information. Create social media posts to improve community engagement. Creates and facilitate the distribution of a quarterly e-newsletter. Events Find and attend relevant community events to raise awareness of BIAD. Be the point person for BIAD fundraising and special events, including the annual Gala. In collaboration with the ED and program directors, create marketing and outreach materials for community and BIAD events. Community Engagement Work with the board and staff to recruit and manage BIAD’s volunteers and facilitate volunteer engagement. The CEC may represent BIAD at community events and on external committees. The CEC may conduct presentations on BIAD’s services and events. Data Tracking and Reporting Track metrics from social media, e-newsletters, and events. Use this information to support the ED’s preparation of grant applications and organizational reporting. Supervisory and Leadership Responsibility There are minimal supervisory responsibilities, beyond volunteer training and oversight at events. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications A passion for the mission of BIAD and the belief that all students should have the opportunity to Dream, Believe and Do. Associate or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, philanthropic studies, education, or a related field; or three (3) years of experience working in a similar role in the nonprofit sector. Equivalent combinations of education and related experience will be considered. Proven track record of implementing innovative strategies. Professional technology skills, including shared folders, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Canva, social media platforms, and website software. Experience with the Believe In A Dream organization is a plus. Requirements Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English; additional languages are a plus. Ability to foster relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, participants, donors, and professionals from diverse backgrounds. Self‑motivated and proactive. Excellent customer service, follow‑through, professionalism, and courtesy. Excellent project management and organizational skills. Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation. Ability to judge workload priorities effectively. Ability to work effectively with minimal management guidance or supervision. Strong administrative, interpersonal, time management, verbal communication, writing, and presentation skills. Good judgment, independence, and a high level of professionalism. Friendly demeanor and ability to multitask. Ability to work flexible hours. Satisfactory background checks, including fingerprinting, criminal history, and motor vehicle reports, as well as positive professional references, are required. Must be able to show valid proof of employment eligibility in the United States. Work Environment and Physical Demands Work is performed primarily in a controlled, non‑smoking office environment. Work also takes place in residential and community settings where weather and cleanliness conditions may be less predictable. Travel may occasionally expose the employee to inclement weather conditions. This position requires frequent movement within the office and travel to off‑site meetings and events. Frequent activity is associated with attending meetings within the organization and with external constituents. The employee must be able to observe presentations, detect and interpret information being relayed, and exchange information effectively. The employee will occasionally be required to address large groups of people. The employee must frequently communicate with others in meetings, over the telephone, and through written channels. The employee must constantly recognize and discern written and electronic material. The employee must constantly operate typical office equipment, including a telephone, copier, printer, computer, and keyboard. The employee will occasionally need to position themselves to reach lower spaces or ground‑level materials such as literature. On an infrequent basis, the employee may need to move items weighing up to twenty‑five (25) pounds when preparing for meetings, events, or gatherings. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time. The employee may frequently ascend or descend stairs at the office. The employee is frequently required to drive or operate a car. Compensation and Work Arrangement Job Type: Part‑time (approximately 30 hours per week). Schedule: Some weeks may require more hours and others fewer; the schedule is flexible with advance notice. Pay: Up to 30,000.00 per year. Work Location: In person or virtual. The office is located on the 16th floor of the Lincoln Bank Tower (116 E Berry St, Fort Wayne, IN 46802), and the employee will have full access to the office. Remote work is permitted if the employee meets regularly with the Executive Director in person.
