Elementary Prep Time Specialist-PE

Position Overview Under the general supervision of the Principal or other supervisor, the Preparation Time Specialist teaches classes and supervises students during teacher preparation period. Prepares lesson plans and required classroom materials, and provides instruction in specialized subject matter areas such as music, art, science, computer operations, media center usage, physical education, languages, or health. Location Vae View Elementary Reference & Closing Date Reference #: 2026-664C Close Date: 06/26/2026 Position Details Hours: Approximately 12.96 hours per week (2.59 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, 174 days per year). Salary: Grade 6, $19.98 per hour (2026-27 Support Salary Table). Promotions result in a minimum 5% increase. Responsibilities Teach classes and supervise students during teacher preparation period, prepare lesson plans and classroom materials, and deliver instruction in the specified subject areas. Educational Requirements High school graduation or equivalent education and/or experience. Formal education or training in the area of specialization preferred. Equivalence of two years (48 semester hours) full-time education at a higher education institution; or an associate's degree; or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test (required at a later date). Knowledge & Ability Knowledge of subject matter areas associated with assigned courses. Strong interpersonal skills required for interaction with students, teachers, and other school personnel. Ability to effectively teach assigned course subjects. Job-Related Experience None required. Experience working with children preferred.
