Customer Sales and Service Representative

Job Overview Assist customers with needed parts, interacting to clarify their needs, researching and recommending parts, providing quotes, and taking orders. Actively create new and add‑on sales and generate leads for Outside Sales. Provide sales support and services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), industrial companies, heavy equipment customers, and others that utilize fluid power. Essential Functions Process customer telephone orders, assist walk‑in customers, price and delivery inquiries, quote products and hydraulic power units and other fluid power components. Meet or exceed monthly sales and gross profit quotas and build on existing sales accounts. Take orders by phone and mail, purchasing and receiving a specific product line, checking availability of stock, back‑order status, vendor schedules, and shipping dates; quote prices; and write and process orders. Work from worksheets, inventory lists, part number files and related information to assist customers. Gather information on costs, discounts, and stock availability. Expedite order inquiries, check the status of orders, follow up on back orders and lost orders, investigate defects, damages, and incorrect shipments, and follow up on the status of in‑house repairs. Monitor customer returns as required, investigate the cause, recommend or approve reshipment or credit, and process necessary paperwork. Seek and grow opportunities to increase business and account base by qualifying and opening new business accounts using sales techniques for add‑on sales, upselling, and professional customer service. Efficiently and professionally service sales accounts and maintain a history profile of what was discussed with the customer. Maintain and develop good customer relationships. Continuously strive to develop and maintain customer rapport and satisfaction. Qualifications High School Diploma / GED or equivalent. Three years of experience in an industrial or fluid power environment. Ability to learn and apply new information quickly. Assertive team player with a positive attitude, high energy level, and ability to establish rapport and build relationships with current and potential customers. Good negotiation and closing skills to drive sales. Solid organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. Good problem‑solving and reasoning skills.
