Modernization Solution Architect

Role Description

As a Modernization Solution Architect within the Transformation Solutions & Technology Office, you will be the lead for application portfolio assessment, migration strategy, and modernization roadmap development across complex enterprise client environments.

• Help clients understand their current applications and what it will take to modernize them.
• Work at the intersection of technical depth and strategic advisory.
• Translate sprawling application estates into structured, executable cloud transformation roadmaps.
• Contribute to Solution Engineering, Proposal development, Sales, and Platform Advisory teams.
• Own the assessment and roadmap narrative for winning proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Application Portfolio Assessment:
  • Lead large-scale application portfolio discovery and assessment engagements.
  • Design and execute application assessment frameworks covering technical health, cloud readiness, and modernization pathways.
  • Conduct application dependency mapping and integration topology analysis.
  • Produce formal Application Assessment Reports with executive summaries and recommendations.
• Large-Scale Application Migration & Modernization Architecture:
  • Design target state cloud architectures for complex, multi-tier enterprise applications.
  • Architect DevSecOps transformation pipelines.
• Migration Strategy & R-Treatment Decision Making:
  • Develop structured R-Treatment decision frameworks.
  • Define application placement strategies.
  • Design migration sequencing and wave planning strategies.
  • Develop risk registers for migration programs.
• Modernization Roadmap Development:
  • Translate assessment findings into detailed modernization roadmaps.
  • Prepare business cases for modernization roadmaps.
  • Develop application-level effort estimation models.
• Platform & Practice Development:
  • Own the assessment and roadmap solutioning narrative for proposals.
  • Lead technical solution defense sessions.
  • Collaborate with the Solutions team to build reusable assessment and strategy assets.
  • Support GenAI-assisted assessment tooling development.
• Solution Architecture — With AWS and Azure / GCP Awareness:
  • Design integrated transformation solutions primarily on AWS.
  • Apply Azure / GCP knowledge for multi-cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in enterprise technology with development/solutioning experience.
• 8–12 years in application architecture with specialization in application portfolio assessment and modernization.
• Multi-cloud exposure in designing migration architectures.
• Proven experience leading application assessment engagements for large enterprise clients.
• Deep expertise in R-Treatment decision frameworks.
• Strong understanding of application placement strategies.
• Hands-on knowledge of application discovery and assessment tooling.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture patterns.
• Experience with DevSecOps toolchains.
• Strong business case development skills.
• Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to operate in onsite-offshore engagement models.
• Prior consulting or pre-sales solutioning experience is strongly preferred.
