Job Summary
The Director of Human Resources is a senior HR leader responsible for executing and operationalizing the company's people strategy in alignment with business objectives. This role oversees all core human resources functions, including talent management, organizational development, compliance, compensation and benefits, payroll, and employee relations.
The Director partners closely with senior leaders and the Vice President of Human Resources to foster a high-performance culture, support change management initiatives, and ensure legal and regulatory compliance across all HR functions. This position leads the HR team and provides direction, coaching, and development to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery and continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities • Provide leadership and functional oversight of all HR operations, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, and compliance
• Lead and mentor the HR team to ensure operational excellence and alignment with company priorities
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR policies, programs, and processes in support of enterprise HR strategy
• Serve as an advisor to senior leadership on organizational design, succession planning, and change initiatives by providing analysis, recommendations, and execution support
• Lead the execution and administration of compensation and benefits programs, including market analysis, budgeting support, and vendor partnerships
• Direct payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements
• Lead enterprise-wide HR programs, including performance reviews, talent reviews, employee development planning, and workforce analytics
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including responsibility for all mandated reporting such as EEO-1, California compliance reporting, Form 5500, and 401(k) testing
• Design and oversee employee onboarding, training, and leadership development programs
• Provide guidance on complex employee relations matters and partner with leadership to drive fair, consistent, and legally compliant resolution
• Lead HR KPI tracking, analysis, and reporting, including headcount, turnover, engagement, and key workforce metrics
• Represent the organization in HR-related audits, external reporting, and compliance activities
• Operate with a high degree of autonomy while escalating enterprise-level strategy decisions, risk matters, and policy exceptions to the Vice President of Human Resources as appropriate
Preferred Qualifications and Education • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
• 10+ years of progressive HR experience
• 7+ years in a leadership role managing HR teams
• Proven experience developing and implementing strategic HR initiatives in a fast-paced, multi-functional environment
• Deep knowledge of U.S. federal and California labor laws, compliance regulations, and industry best practices
• Demonstrated success in building high-performing teams and influencing at all levels of the organization
• Strong business acumen and the ability to translate organizational goals into effective HR strategies
• Experience managing HR systems, payroll, and reporting tools, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with a high degree of professionalism and discretion
• HR certifications such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR preferred
Soft Skills • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to resolve complex issues efficiently and effectively
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction

Physical Demands • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
