Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Manager Job Description

This role leads all shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations for a growing aerospace precision machining facility. You will oversee material flow, inventory control, certification tracking, and documentation management while partnering closely with Production, Machining, and Quality teams. The position requires 3–5+ years of management experience and a strong background in aerospace or precision manufacturing. You will maintain key operational metrics, drive accountability, develop and coach team members, and ensure full compliance with customer and industry quality requirements. This role is critical to ensuring accurate movement of incoming and outgoing materials, maintaining material traceability, and managing all shipping documentation required in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring all inbound and outbound materials are processed accurately, on time, and in accordance with customer and industry requirements.
• Oversee warehouse operations and logistics, including material staging, storage, and movement to support production and machining schedules.
• Manage inventory control processes, including cycle counts, reconciliation, and use of material tracking systems and ERP tools to maintain accurate inventory records.
• Ensure complete material traceability by maintaining accurate records for all materials, components, and finished goods throughout the supply chain.
• Oversee receiving inspection processes to verify that incoming materials meet specifications, documentation, and aerospace quality standards.
• Manage shipping documentation, including packing lists, shipping labels, and related logistics paperwork, to ensure accurate and compliant outbound shipments.
• Maintain and control documentation such as Certificates of Conformance (CoC), certification records, FAA documentation, and other aerospace quality documents.
• Track and maintain compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and other aerospace quality standards as they relate to shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, and warehouse efficiency, and report results to leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and root cause analysis to optimize warehouse workflows and material handling processes.
• Lead and develop the shipping and receiving team through coaching, mentoring, training, and performance management.
• Implement and manage corrective action and disciplinary processes when necessary, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
• Plan workforce requirements, including scheduling, workload balancing, and staffing to support production and logistics needs.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Machining, Quality, and other cross-functional teams to align material availability with production scheduling and customer commitments.
• Manage NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) related to shipping, receiving, and inventory issues, and lead root cause and corrective action efforts.
• Ensure proper use of RF scanners, material tracking systems, and ERP systems for accurate data entry and real-time inventory visibility.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse environment through 5S practices and adherence to established procedures.
• Support documentation control processes to ensure all records are complete, accurate, and readily accessible for audits and customer requirements.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the shipping, receiving, and warehouse teams.

Essential Skills

• 3–5+ years of management experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics operations.
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing or precision machining environments.
• Strong shipping and receiving management skills, including oversight of daily operations and team performance.
• Proficiency in inventory control and material tracking systems.
• Experience with warehouse operations and logistics management.
• Knowledge of aerospace quality standards and requirements.
• Hands-on experience with quality assurance and quality control processes.
• Ability to manage documentation control, including shipping documentation and certification records.
• Proficiency with ERP systems for inventory, logistics, and production-related data.
• Experience tracking KPIs and preparing metrics reports to monitor operational performance.
• Demonstrated team leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, and employee development.
• Experience in production scheduling support and coordination with manufacturing teams.
• Ability to ensure material traceability and manage receiving inspection processes.
• Experience handling Certificates of Conformance (CoC) and certification tracking.
• Familiarity with NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and corrective action processes.
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional leadership and collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to drive accountability and maintain operational discipline within a team environment.

• Experience working within AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Familiarity with FAA documentation and aerospace-specific documentation requirements.
• Knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with material traceability systems and processes specific to aerospace manufacturing.

• Experience preparing and managing shipping documentation for domestic and international shipments.
• Knowledge of certification tracking processes for aerospace components and assemblies.
• Experience leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
• Hands-on experience with RF scanners and warehouse management tools.
• Experience in performance management, including coaching, mentoring, and disciplinary processes.
• Skills in workforce planning, including staffing, scheduling, and workload balancing.
• Conflict resolution and team building skills to foster a collaborative work environment.
• Cross-functional leadership experience working closely with Production, Machining, Quality, and other departments.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Decatur, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
