Accounting Specialist II JOB CLASSIFICATION Pay grade level: Grade 12 Compensation: $44,267-$60,867. Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience. Employee category: Staff Department: Financial Services Reports to: Director of Budget and Purchasing FLSA status: Non-Exempt Job Code: FF049FTNAS2 Location: Primarily Main Campus, but any other college location as assigned by the appropriate administrator SUMMARY To create and maintain records of financial data and transactions that can be summarized for various uses. Along with processing payments via various tenders and other related work as required. POSITION DESCRIPTION Collect tuition and fees and balance collections to receipts. Monitor student accounts for billing adjustments and overdue charges for collection processing. Investigate and respond to student, administration, employee, and vendor inquiries. Assist with answering the telephone and providing customer service. Process third‑party billing for dual/concurrent enrollment high school students. Data Entry of invoices and requests for payments related to grant‑funded purchases; assist with reconciling and monitoring grant funds. Balance and fund cash bags related to TEC agency sales and Bookstore sales. Perform other duties related to the Business Office as assigned by the Director of Budget and Purchasing. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Detail‑oriented. Organized Knowledge of financial record‑keeping practices Must perform tasks timely and accurately. Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to pertinent regulations. Ability to independently solve problems. Work well in a high‑volume office with many interruptions throughout the day. Must demonstrate a commitment to and ability to work with a diverse student, staff, and outside vendor population. Ability to multitask and shift priorities. Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to use a 10‑key calculator. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma/ GED equivalent and five (5) years relevant experience OR Associate or higher degree and two (2) years of relevant experience. Ability to perform various accounting duties and use computerized accounting software, including Microsoft Office. Ability to operate a 10‑key with efficiency and speed, as well as computer skills. Accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting/bookkeeping, and cash handling experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience reconciling and monitoring budgets. Experience with Ellucian. WORKING CONDITIONS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, sit, and occasionally push or lift items.
